BLACK ICE .. .. ..

Took the dogs for a walk this morning, and Whooosh ! straight on me backside, not once but twice in the space of a few houses down the street from me own front door.

Bloody idiot two doors down was throwing water on his windscreen which was freezing as soon as it hit the glass.

Radio is telling all sorts of hellish stories about the main (local) roads with jackknifed trucks and blocked and icey roads, pedestrians giong A*** over T** on the pathways everywhere.
M1 is grid locked at J28, cars can't leave the motorway up the off ramp onto the A38 !

Hope it clears a bit later otherwise it's gonna be a nightmare getting to work.

Tis getting boring now, . . . just wish it would all sod off so we can get back to some sort of normality.

Are you ok or hurt? I have just got to work as my village was blocked off by a grit truck on its side.

Well, we're just about clear here....But I have to go to your area for an interview tonite! Whats the chances?? Im staying in a hotel on the A50 and then going up one junction of the M1...Oh buggar...............I'll check out the tinternet me thinks.........................................

in the same boat here tel went to go out in the frozen car only to make it to
the bottom of our street where there was a road block of all the cars dropping off the kids at school
so slid round & headed back home took the dog out good job he as 4 leg drive as i was all over the place clining to the railings & anything else i could grab & now its snowing good job im on my day off
don,t fancy your chances of getting to work tel

ellie its a nignht mare out there theres cars & lorries all over the place m8 called to say thers a 4x4 on it side on the main road with a jack knifed lorry next to it
so unless it warms up & melts stay as home

I need to go A46/A52/A453/A50 - (Days Inn) at 4pm, then at 6pm I need to go from the A50 up the M1 from Junction 24 to junction 30, then back again after.....What are my chances????

Hope you get better soon Tel, not nice.

Two people toppled over on the ice this morning. So far I've been OK - been going slower than a dead snail since my capsizing. Snowed 'again' overnight - this time I recon we had as much in a few hours than the whole of last week combined.

I can now see the point of having a Chelsea Tractor, pity some can't operate them properly.

I was on a BA flight approaching Heathrow, stewardess fills up a bottle with boiling water, sits down opposite me and puts the bottle in her bag. She tells me its to get the ice off her windscreen. Don't put hot water on it I tell her, it'll crack the windscreen. Oh don't worry she replies, I've cracked two already

well its not stopped snowing here yet &now its heavy snow
main roads not bad as long as your not doing to many back roads you should be ok
& if you get stuck call me & i,l bring the tractor out & i do mean tractor a new holland one lol

Well I made it safe and sound....It wasnt that bad TBH, I travelled from the A50 Days Inn to Junction 30 of the M1, which is about 40 miles in 40 minutes (Slightly less coming back-LOL)

and it was all good....



Back in Lincs now, with more packing to do!! Ho Hum!

Well, it's finally cleared down this way. The last bout of snow on Tuesday didn't stay very long.

I did have to abandon my home though last Saturday because I couldn't get the car out of the farm. Work were picking me up after a trek through the snow across fields, river and railway lines but I was getting fed up, not to mention cold, doing the walk every morning. So, I stayed with my Mum and Dad for a few days until it all cleared.

I'm home now though and trying to get back to normal.

Hope you are ok Tel and that everyone else has survived "The Big Freeze". Bit dramatic the way they are publicising this bit of cold weather.

I think everyone is fed up of the snow , I know I am , my MOD2 test was meant to be on the 8th of Jan then it got moved to tomorrow - but then it snowed again and now it's the 25th ....
